To check which version of CactusBase Pro you are currently running select About from the CactusBase Help menu. The version is also displayed on the CactusBase Pro Intro Screen that appears briefly each time CactusBase is started.

Settings database correction utility (to stop 'Bad file name or number' message)

| Notes:
This small utility fixes a problem in the CactusBase settings database (which holds the CactusBase user settings) which is causing either a 'Bad file name or number' message at the start of CactusBase loading or when accessing the CactusBase Options screen. The utility removes the background picture file setting which causes this problem if the filename specified is on a drive that does not exist on the computer system. After running this utility the CactusBase program should load correctly and allow the Options screen to be displayed where a background picture can be re-assigned if desired. Instructions - Right Click on the file link above and select Save Target As to download file to a location on your system. Once downloaded locate the file and copy it to your Program Files\CactusBase Pro folder and run the file from there. |

Warning - This file is specifically for v.4.0 & v.4.1 of the Encyclopedia, it will cause unpredictable results if used with any other version of the Encyclopedia.
